We cater specifically to the man who appreciates understated luxury and functional, everyday design, providing a comprehensive range of sizes that accommodate diverse physiques, ensuring that every Elswick customer finds their perfect, comfortable match.
How to Measure
- Chest Measurement: To ensure the perfect fit for our shirts and tees, wrap a soft, flexible measuring tape around the fullest part of your chest. Keep the tape horizontal and level around your body, ensuring it is snug enough to stay in place but not so tight that it constrict your breathing. For the signature Elswick relaxed look, ensure there is a slight ease in the measurement.
- Waist Measurement: Measure around your natural waistline, which is typically located just above the navel. For those who prefer a more casual, low-slung fit with our trousers, you may also wish to measure around the circumference of your waist where you normally wear your belt. Ensure the tape is level and rests flat against your skin or base layer.
- Hip Measurement: Stand with your feet together and wrap the tape around the widest part of your hips and buttocks. This measurement is vital for our casual trousers and shorts to ensure the intended relaxed silhouette is maintained without being overly restrictive during movement.
- Foot Length: For our footwear, accuracy is paramount. Place your bare foot on a flat piece of paper, positioned against a straight wall. Mark the tip of your longest toe. Measure the distance from the edge of the paper (the heel) to the mark you have made. This provides the most precise base for selecting your size in our trainers and boots.

Product-Specific Guidance
Casual T-Shirts & Polos: Our tops are engineered for a relaxed, breathable fit that promotes airflow. The shoulder seams are designed to sit slightly off the natural shoulder to enhance the casual, effortless aesthetic. If you prefer a more structured, athletic, or slim-fit appearance, we recommend selecting your standard size. However, if you are looking for the signature Elswick oversized, streetwear-inspired look, we suggest selecting one full size larger than your usual measurement.
Casual Footwear & Trainers: Our footwear range is built for all-day wearability and durability. When selecting trainers, please consider the thickness of the socks you intend to wear; if you prefer thicker cotton sports socks, you may wish to consider a half-size larger. For our more robust casual boots, ensure there is sufficient vertical space in the toe box to prevent pressure on your toenails during long walks.
Loungewear & Shorts: Our shorts and loungewear are cut with extra room in the thigh and seat to allow for maximum mobility and comfort. This is particularly beneficial for those with a more muscular build, as our relaxed fits are specifically designed to accommodate larger thighs without feeling restrictive or tight.
Sizing Tips
- Measure in the Evening: Your feet naturally swell slightly throughout the day due to activity and temperature. We recommend measuring your feet in the evening to ensure your new Elswick footwear won't feel too tight after a long day of walking.
- The Thumb Rule: When trying on footwear, there should be approximately a thumb's width of space between your longest toe and the end of the shoe's toe box. This prevents toe compression and allows for natural foot movement.
- The Heel Check: To ensure a secure fit, you should be able to snugly fit your index finger between your heel and the back of the shoe. If there is too much space, your foot may slip; if there is no space, the shoe may cause blisters.
- Consider Sock Thickness: Always perform your measurements while wearing the type of socks you plan to pair with your Elswick footwear. A thick woollen sock can significantly alter the internal volume of a shoe.
- Size Up for Between Sizes: If you find yourself caught between two sizes in our clothing range, we strongly recommend opting for the larger size. This maintains the comfortable, relaxed Elswick silhouette and allows for better breathability.
- Width Awareness: Our men's footwear is designed with a wider last to accommodate a natural, comfortable stride. If you have particularly narrow feet, please refer closely to our EU conversion charts to find a more precise fit.
