Body Measurements for Clothing
Chest/Bust
- Wear a well-fitting bra (for women)
- Stand straight with arms at your sides
- Wrap tape measure around the fullest part of your chest
- Keep tape parallel to the floor
- Don't pull too tight - tape should rest lightly on skin
Waist
- Find your natural waistline (usually the narrowest part)
- Stand relaxed, don't hold your breath
- Wrap tape around your waist
- Keep tape snug but not tight
- Measure after exhaling normally
Hips
- Stand with feet together
- Find the fullest part of your hips
- Wrap tape around hips and buttocks
- Keep tape parallel to the floor
- Ensure tape is not twisted
Inseam
- Wear well-fitting trousers
- Measure from crotch seam to hem
- Or stand against a wall
- Measure from crotch to desired length
- Ask someone to help for accuracy
Sleeve Length
- Bend elbow at 90 degrees
- Start at centre back of neck
- Measure across shoulder to elbow
- Continue down to wrist bone
- Keep tape measure following arm's curve
Neck
- Wrap tape around base of neck
- Place finger between tape and neck
- This ensures comfortable fit
- Round up to nearest half inch
