Evoc Size Guide
Evoc specialises in protective gear, backpacks, and technical outerwear designed for mountain biking, skiing, and alpine sports. The brand is known for precision fit across its range of protectors, daypacks, and weather-resistant clothing. Evoc sizing is engineered around torso length and waist measurements rather than simple chest dimensions, ensuring that protective equipment and load-bearing backpacks sit correctly on your body regardless of height variation. The brand's fit is purposefully snug through the core for secure protection and stability, making accurate measurement essential before ordering.
How to Measure
- Torso Length: Ask a friend to run a soft tape measure from the top of your shoulders (where a crew-neck T-shirt collar finishes) down your back to your waistline (the small of your back, level with your navel or the top of your hip bone). Keep the tape vertical and snug but not tight.
- Waist: Measure around the narrowest part of your waist, just above your hip bone and in line with your navel. Use a soft tape measure and keep it parallel to the ground. Do not pull tight.
- Chest: For outerwear, measure across the fullest part of your chest, keeping the tape horizontal and relaxed.
- Arm Length (Outerwear only): Measure from the centre back of your neck, along your shoulder, and down the outside of your arm to your wrist bone with your arm relaxed at your side.
- Height: Stand barefoot against a wall and measure from the top of your head to the ground.
- Measure in the evening: Feet and torsos swell slightly during the day, so measuring later in the day will give you the most accurate fit for active gear.

Product-Specific Guidance
Protective Gear (Body Armour, Knee & Elbow Protectors): Evoc protectors are designed to stay in place during dynamic movement, so fit must be snug but not restrictive. Measure your limbs in a relaxed position. For torso protectors, prioritise torso length over height; a shorter person with a longer torso may need a larger size than their height suggests. Always check that straps can be tightened fully without bunching, and that the protector does not slip when you bend or twist.
Backpacks: Backpack fit is critical for comfort during long days in the mountains. Back length is more important than hip circumference; use your torso measurement as the primary guide. Most Evoc packs are sized to accommodate multiple body types within each size category. If you fall between two back-length measurements, choose the larger size to avoid pressure on your spine during loaded hikes.
Outerwear (Jackets & Trousers): Evoc outerwear is tailored for layering over protective gear, so expect a roomier cut through the chest and shoulders than fashion-focused brands. Arm length is critical: sleeves that are too short will ride up when you raise your arms or extend them over a handlebar. If your measurements suggest you're between sizes, size up for comfort and freedom of movement.
Children's Protectors: Available in sizes JS, JM, and JL, measured by height and torso length. Children often grow quickly, so consider a size up if your child's measurements fall in the upper half of a size range.
Sizing Tips
- Torso length is paramount: Evoc's sizing philosophy centres on this measurement. A protector or backpack that does not match your torso length will either chafe at the shoulders or gap at the waist, compromising both comfort and protection.
- Wear what you'll wear underneath: When trying on protective gear, wear the base layers and jersey you'd use in the mountains. Thickness varies, and this will affect the final fit of knee pads or chest protectors.
- Check range overlap carefully: Many Evoc sizes overlap in hip or waist measurements. If your measurement falls within the range of two sizes, prioritise the fit at your torso length or height before hip circumference.
- Strap tightness matters: All Evoc protectors include velcro or buckle closures. Make sure these can be fastened comfortably without excess strap hanging free, which indicates the size is too large. Excess material can catch or shift during impact.
- Backpack fit over armour: If you wear a torso protector under your backpack, size the pack to accommodate it. Test the pack with your typical protective gear worn underneath before finalising your purchase.
- Women's gear is not scaled-down men's: Evoc's women's protectors and outerwear are cut differently, with adjusted proportions in the torso and arm length. Do not assume a women's M equals a men's XS; use the measurement tables provided.
- Return and exchange within 30 days: Evoc products are designed for precise fit, and getting size wrong is not uncommon when first shopping the brand. Take advantage of 30-day returns to find the right fit without cost.
