Fridababy Size Guide

Fridababy creates thoughtfully designed baby care and nursery essentials that support parents through every stage of their child's development. Known for innovative, practical products that make parenting easier, Fridababy offers clothing, gear, and accessories for infants and toddlers. Our sizing is straightforward and accommodates rapid growth—we recommend measuring your child and consulting our conversion charts to find the best fit across UK, US, and European standards.

How to Measure

  1. Height: Have your child stand barefoot with heels together and feet flat on the floor. Measure from the top of the head to the ground using a soft measuring tape. Record the measurement in centimetres.
  2. Chest: Wrap the measuring tape around the fullest part of your child's chest, keeping it level and snug but not tight. Ensure the tape passes under both arms and spans the shoulder blades.
  3. Waist: Measure around the natural waistline (where your child's body bends slightly when leaning forward). Keep the tape comfortably loose.
  4. Hips: Place the measuring tape around the fullest part of your child's bottom and hips. Keep the tape level and parallel to the ground.
  5. Inseam (for bottoms): With your child standing barefoot, measure from the inner thigh at the crotch down to the ankle bone or desired hem length.
  6. Footwear: Have your child stand on a sheet of paper and trace around the foot with a pencil. Measure the longest point from heel to toe tip. Add approximately 1.3–1.6 cm for comfortable growing room in shoes.

Product-Specific Guidance

Baby Clothing & Bodysuit Range

Fridababy baby clothing and bodysuits are designed for comfort and durability through multiple growth stages. Sizing is based on height and weight rather than age alone, as babies develop at different rates. We recommend checking both measurements on our chart to find the best fit. EU sizing (50, 56, 62, 68 etc.) represents the baby's expected height in centimetres; UK labels align these with age ranges (Newborn, 0–3M, 3–6M, etc.). Bodysuits and vests should fit snugly without restricting movement; a size with 2–3 cm of room at the shoulders and chest allows for layering and growth.

Sleepwear & Sleeping Bags

Sleep sacks and sleepwear must fit securely to ensure safe sleep and prevent the fabric from bunching. Choose a size that sits high on the shoulders with armholes that are snug but not restrictive. If your baby is between sizes, opt for the smaller size to prevent loose fabric. Fridababy sleepwear typically runs true to size, and layering a long-sleeved bodysuit underneath works well for temperature control during colder months.

Outerwear & Layering

Jackets and cardigans should allow room for layering underneath. Measure across your child's chest and add 5–7 cm for comfortable fit and freedom of movement. Sleeve length is important: sleeves should extend to the wrist with arms at rest, allowing for growth. If your child has room to grow, sizing up by one size is acceptable for outerwear, provided the shoulders and chest fit well and you can roll up sleeves temporarily.

Footwear & Shoes

Proper shoe fit is essential for healthy foot development. Measure your child's foot from heel to toe tip and add 1.3–1.6 cm to allow for growth and natural foot swell during play. Check the width of the shoe as well; Fridababy footwear typically offers standard fits. There should be a thumb's width (approximately 1 cm) of space between the longest toe and the end of the shoe when your child is standing. Shoes that are too tight restrict circulation and can cause discomfort; shoes that are too loose increase the risk of tripping.

Accessories & Hats

Hats and headwear for infants and toddlers are often offered in one-size-free (0/S) or in two sizes: Size 1 (0–18 months) and Size 2 (18 months–3 years). For hats, measure around your child's head at the widest point (typically just above the ears and eyebrows). One-size items stretch to fit a wide age range; Size 2 is more suitable for children approaching preschool age who have proportionally larger heads.

Sizing Tips

  • Measure every 3–6 months: Infants and toddlers grow rapidly and unpredictably. Regular measurements help you choose the right size and avoid waste from outgrowing clothes before wearing them.
  • Allow room for growth but not too much: Oversized clothing can bunch around the neck and armpits, creating discomfort and safety concerns. Aim for 2–3 cm of ease (extra space) in the chest and shoulders, and 1–2 cm at the waist.
  • Check both height and weight: A child may be tall but lightweight (or vice versa). Cross-reference both measurements on our chart to find a size that balances length and circumference.
  • EU sizing is based on height in centimetres: EU size 80 corresponds to approximately 80 cm tall. This system is consistent across European brands and makes it easy to switch between sizes as your child grows.
  • Layer for temperature control: Fridababy designs often work well with layering. A smaller bodysuit plus a mid-weight cardigan offers flexibility for changing weather and allows you to adjust warmth without moving up a full clothing size.
  • Test the neckline: Ensure the neckline is neither too tight (restrict breathing or feeding) nor too loose (allow cold air in or pose a safety concern with dangling fabric). You should be able to slip one finger comfortably inside the neckband.
  • Consider activity level: Active toddlers in motion sizing may benefit from a slightly roomier fit in trousers to allow for crawling and climbing. Sleepwear and close-fitting bodysuits should be snugger for safety.
  • Convert between sizing systems with confidence: Our conversion tables make it easy to order from UK, US, or EU retailers. When in doubt, contact Fridababy customer care with your child's measurements for a personalised recommendation.
