Nike Size Guide
Nike is a US-based athletic brand best known for performance footwear, trainers and sportswear. Nike shoe sizing follows its own conversion standards: US men’s and US women’s scales differ by 1.5 sizes (not the 1-size gap used by some rivals), and UK sizes typically sit one full size below US men’s. Most Nike trainers fit true to size for length, though individual models vary in width and volume. Women’s sizes run 1.5 sizes smaller than men’s at the same EU number — for example, men’s US 10 equates to women’s US 11.5. Note that the CM/JP figure printed on Nike shoe boxes is a label size, not your actual foot length; always match against foot length in centimetres below.
How to Measure
- Tape a sheet of paper to a hard, flat floor so it cannot slip.
- Stand on the paper with weight evenly balanced on one foot, shoulder-width apart.
- Ask someone to mark the tip of your longest toe and the outermost point of your heel, holding the pen straight down.
- Step off the paper and measure the distance between the two marks in centimetres with a ruler.
- Repeat for your other foot and use the longer measurement when consulting the chart.
- If you fall between two sizes, Nike recommends sizing up for comfort, especially in running and football boots.

Product-Specific Guidance
Running shoes — Nike running models such as Pegasus and Vomero generally fit true to size in length. Wider feet may benefit from wide-width options where listed on the product page. Allow roughly a thumb’s width at the toebox for forward movement during runs.
Lifestyle trainers (Air Force 1, Dunks) — Air Force 1s commonly run approximately half a size large; many wearers size down for a snugger fit. Nike Dunks are typically true to size in length, though retro colourways can feel narrower through the midfoot.
Football boots — Football boots are designed for a close, locked-in fit. If your foot length sits between sizes, size up rather than down to avoid toe pressure during play. Check whether the boot is marked for firm ground, soft ground or indoor sole plates, as fit can feel different across constructions.
Kids’ trainers — Measure both feet each time you buy; children’s feet grow quickly. Nike recommends sizing up when between sizes. Toddler sizes (C suffix) and youth sizes (Y suffix) use separate scales — do not convert a 3Y directly against adult UK 3.
Sizing Tips
- Nike uses a 1.5-size gap between men’s and women’s US sizing — men’s US 9 equals women’s US 10.5 at the same foot length.
- For most Nike footwear, UK sizes are one size below US men’s (US 10 = UK 9), unlike some European brands.
- The CM/JP number on the shoe box label is not the same as your measured foot length; always use the foot-length column above.
- Air Force 1 styles often feel half a size roomy — consider sizing down if you prefer a tighter lifestyle fit.
- Nike uppers, particularly synthetic and knit materials, can feel snug at first but typically relax with wear; half a size up helps if you are between sizes and have wider feet.
- Always base your size on the longer foot; it is normal for left and right feet to differ slightly.
- Wide (2E) width options are available on selected running and training models — check the product page before defaulting to a larger length size.
- When converting from adidas or New Balance, do not assume identical US-to-women’s cross-gender rules; Nike’s 1.5-size standard is brand-specific.
