Whether your child is taking their first steps or heading to school, Toy Story sizing ensures a proper fit across UK, US, and European standards.
How to Measure
- For shoes: Have your child stand barefoot on a flat surface, with weight distributed evenly on both feet.
- Place a piece of paper against a wall and ask your child to stand with their heel touching the wall.
- Mark the longest point of their toes with a pencil.
- Measure the distance from the wall to the pencil mark in centimetres.
- Measure both feet, as they may differ slightly in length.
- Use the larger measurement to determine shoe size.
- For clothing: Measure chest circumference at the fullest point under the arms, and waist at the natural waistline.
- Measure in the afternoon or evening, when feet are slightly swollen from daily activity.
- Always refer to the specific product's size guide before ordering, as fit can vary slightly between styles.

Product-Specific Guidance
Trainers & Casual Shoes
Toy Story trainers and casual shoes feature flexible, cushioned soles ideal for active play and everyday wear. The toeboxes are designed with a touch of extra room to accommodate growing feet and natural toe movement. When ordering, allow approximately 1.3 centimetres of space between your child's longest toe and the shoe end to permit comfortable growth over a 4–5 month wear period. If your child is between sizes, we recommend selecting the larger size, particularly if their feet are still growing rapidly.
Sandals & Summer Footwear
Sandals run true to size according to the chart above. Ensure the heel cup is snug and the instep strap sits comfortably without pinching. For young walkers (under 18 months), look for sandals with reinforced heel counters and adjustable straps to prevent slipping during play.
T-Shirts, Jumpers & Tops
All Toy Story tops are cut generously to allow room for layering and movement. Chest measurements should be taken at the fullest point under the arms whilst your child stands with arms relaxed at their sides. If your measurements fall between two sizes, we suggest ordering the smaller size for a neater fit, or the larger size if your child prefers a looser, more relaxed style.
Trousers & Shorts
Trousers and shorts are designed with adjustable waistbands or elasticated waists to accommodate varying body shapes and allow for a comfortable, secure fit. Waist measurements should be taken at the natural waistline. Length is typically proportional to the indicated age, but if your child is taller or shorter than average for their age, consider the height range in centimetres (shown on our EU sizing) to ensure appropriate leg length.
Character-Licensed Clothing Sets
Toy Story character-licensed sets (including pyjamas, costumes, and themed apparel) maintain the same size standards as regular clothing. Pyjamas are cut slightly roomier for comfort during sleep and movement. When ordering a set, size according to your child's chest measurement rather than age, as individual growth rates vary considerably.
Sizing Tips
- Measure in the afternoon: Feet naturally swell throughout the day due to activity and gravity. Measuring your child's feet in the late afternoon or early evening ensures a more accurate size and prevents ordering shoes that will feel tight by day's end.
- Allow growing room in shoes: Children's feet grow rapidly. A properly fitted Toy Story shoe should allow approximately 1.3 centimetres (about the width of your thumb) between the longest toe and the shoe end. This provides comfort and accommodates growth over several months of wear.
- Check width as well as length: Shoe width is as important as length for comfort and support. If your child has wider or narrower feet, note this when selecting a shoe style, and read customer reviews mentioning fit width before purchasing.
- Buy shoes later in the day: When shopping in-store, visit in the afternoon when feet are at their largest. Always try shoes on both feet, as left and right feet can differ slightly.
- Plan for frequent shoe replacement: Children typically outgrow shoes every 4–5 months depending on growth rate and play intensity. Budget for regular replacement and monitor fit every 6–8 weeks, especially during growth spurts.
- Review product-specific fit feedback: Toy Story styles may fit differently depending on the shoe category (trainers vs. sandals) or collection season. Always read recent customer reviews for fit notes such as "runs large" or "runs narrow" before ordering.
- Consider growth spurts: If your child is entering a known growth-spurt period (around ages 3–4, 6–7, or 9–10), you may wish to size up by half a size to extend the wearable lifespan of the shoe.
- Ensure snug heel fit: The heel should sit snugly without slipping, and there should be no gap between the heel and the shoe counter. A loose heel increases blister risk and reduces stability during active play.
