How to Measure
To ensure the most accurate fit and to allow for natural growth, we recommend measuring your child's foot at home before placing your order. Please follow these steps carefully:
- Place a piece of paper firmly against a flat wall, ensuring the edge of the paper is flush with the base of the wall.
- Have your child stand on the paper with their heel pressed firmly against the wall.
- Using a pencil, draw a line at the very tip of the longest toe. Ensure the pencil is held vertically to maintain accuracy.
- Remove the child's foot and use a ruler to measure the distance from the edge of the paper (the heel) to the line you have drawn.
- Record this measurement in millimetres (mm) or centimetres (cm).
- Crucial Step: Always add 10mm (approximately 0.39 inches) to the actual measurement of the foot. This extra space is essential to allow for natural foot movement and future growth.

Product-Specific Guidance
Sandals: Many of our sandal styles feature adjustable fastenings such as buckles, straps, or laces. This makes them incredibly versatile for achieving a custom fit. If you find a sandal is slightly loose, you can easily tighten the straps to secure the foot.
Sneakers & Trainers: Our sneakers are designed with a standard F/G width. For children with slightly wider feet, we recommend sizing up and using a thicker insole to ensure the foot remains secure without being compressed.
Boots: When wearing our boots, consider the thickness of the socks being worn. If your child prefers heavy winter socks, you may wish to consider moving up one size to maintain adequate room for the toes.
Sizing Tips
- Prioritise EU Sizing: As our shoes are manufactured in Europe, the EU size is your most reliable reference point for an accurate fit.
- The 10mm Rule: Never forget to add 10mm to your child's actual foot measurement to accommodate growth and movement.
- Measure in the Afternoon: Feet tend to swell slightly throughout the day. Measuring in the late afternoon or evening provides a more accurate representation of the foot's maximum size.
- Width Adjustments: If a particular style feels too narrow, try selecting one size larger and adding a cushioned insole to fill the extra volume.
- Check the Footbed: When in doubt, refer to the footbed length provided in our charts rather than relying solely on UK or US labels, as these can vary between brands.
- Width Standard: Most Young Soles styles are engineered for an F/G width, providing a balanced fit for most children's foot shapes.
